GTA 6: Game to be unveiled with 5 December trailer

One of the most eagerly awaited games of a generation is nearing its release.

Rockstar Games has revealed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be presented in a trailer on December 5th at 1400 GMT. The actual release date of the game, however, remains unknown.

Despite the uncertainty, fans are buzzing with anticipation. Rockstar's announcement of the trailer launch on X has already garnered 26 million views in just under two hours.

It has been a decade since Rockstar Games introduced Grand Theft Auto 5, the second best-selling video game ever, surpassed only by Minecraft, with over 185 million copies sold.

Grand Theft Auto V was a smash hit that broke gaming records

Rockstar Games is presumed to have dedicated several years to the development of GTA 6, although the official confirmation of the game's production came in February 2022.

Earlier, Sam Houser, the president of the gaming powerhouse, mentioned that the December unveiling of the trailer was strategically aligned with the company's 25th anniversary.

In a separate announcement, Rockstar has revealed a collaboration with Netflix, bringing a selection of its titles to the streaming giant's gaming platform. Much-loved games like GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas will be accessible to Netflix subscribers on mobile devices starting December 14th.

Long wait

The anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6 has been protracted, considering the series' inaugural release in 1997. While this upcoming installment marks the sixth main entry, numerous spin-offs and releases on various platforms have enriched the franchise.

Rumors surrounding the game have pervaded popular culture for the past decade, subjecting fans to an unexpectedly prolonged wait. GTA IV hit the shelves in 2008, and GTA V followed five years later. However, during the interim period, two significant single-player expansion packs were released.

The extended wait may be attributed to the enduring success of GTA Online, the multiplayer iteration of the game, speculated to generate hundreds of millions of dollars annually for Rockstar Games. The popularity of GTA V is evident in its multiple re-releases and presence on three distinct generations of home consoles.
