This Monday morning, the actress
received a nomination for the best performance by a supporting female actor
category for her role in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, elevating her
total nomination count to 33.
In this category, Streep shares the nomination with Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown), Abby Elliott (The Bear), Christina Ricci (Yellowjackets), J. Smith-Cameron (Succession), and Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso).
In "Only Murders," Streep took on the role of Loretta Durkin, an
actress featured in Oliver Putnam’s (Martin Short) musical. As the storyline
unfolded, she evolved into his love interest, joining forces to uncover the
murderers in season three. Showrunner John Hoffman recounted Streep’s casting
journey to The Hollywood Reporter after the recent finale, expressing his
desire for the iconic actress to make a return in season four.
Transitioning to the small screen,
Streep makes her debut in the second episode of "Extrapolation," titled “2046:
Whale Fall,” where she shares the screen with Sienna Miller. Streep lends
her voice to the last humpback whale on earth, a character also representing
Rebecca’s late mother, Eve.
The acclaimed actress, who has previously clinched Oscars and Emmys, boasts a collection of Golden Globes for her outstanding performances in films such as The Iron Lady, The French Lieutenant’s Woman, Angels in America, Adaptation, Julie & Julia, The Devil Wears Prada, Sophie’s Choice, and Kramer vs. Kramer.
Streep was also honored with the
Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement at the Globes in 2017. This
accolade recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the
entertainment industry. During her acceptance speech, she addressed the topic
of immigration and directed comments towards Donald Trump.
Speaking from the stage, she
remarked, “Hollywood is filled with outsiders and foreigners, and if you expel
us all, your viewing options will be limited to football and mixed martial
arts, which do not qualify as arts.”

producer Dick Clark Productions is under the ownership of Penske Media
