Rockstar Games has unveiled the first look at Grand Theft Auto VI through a trailer, showcasing fast cars, flamingos, and a female lead. This highly-anticipated installment is set in a fictional version of Miami. The release of the trailer comes after an online leak had already generated considerable anticipation among players.

The first trailer for the highly anticipated game Grand Theft Auto 6 has been released by Rockstar Games

Rockstar Games has officially released the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, the upcoming installment in its influential open-world crime series. This unveiling follows an early online leak that had heightened anticipation.

The previous title in the series, Grand Theft Auto V, has achieved remarkable success, selling over 190 million copies since its 2013 release. When considering its online counterpart, GTA Online, it stands as the most financially successful entertainment product ever, accumulating more than $7.7 billion (£6.3 billion) for publisher Take-Two.

The GTA 6 trailer hints at a 2025 release date and brings players back to the fictional Miami setting, Vice City, previously featured in 2006's GTA: Vice City Stories.

The trailer commences with a glimpse of one of the game's dual protagonists, Lucia, clad in a prison uniform, apparently during a parole interview. It concludes with Lucia and a partner engaging in a store heist. In the intervening scenes, the footage takes on a TikTok-esque style, showcasing predominantly illicit activities in Florida, including encounters with alligators, high-speed car chases, flamingos, strip clubs, and rooftop parties. The alternating scenes of sun-drenched beaches and vibrant neon signage create a vivid depiction of the city's lively and somewhat disreputable atmosphere.

Lucia marks a significant milestone as the first female protagonist in an open-world GTA game. While the original top-down game, launched in 1997, included four female avatars, they lacked voices or distinct personalities.

Set to the fitting soundtrack of Tom Petty's "Love is a Long Road," the trailer initiates a period of over a year dedicated to building anticipation for the game. Originally scheduled for a 5 December release, the trailer was unexpectedly launched 13 hours ahead of time by Rockstar in response to a leak on X (formerly known as Twitter). The leaked version featured a prominent watermark encouraging people to buy Bitcoin.

Rockstar has faced challenges in safeguarding information about the game, with a previous hack resulting in approximately 90 minutes of unreleased game footage making its way into the public domain. Additionally, unverified clips, allegedly shared by someone claiming to be the child of a Rockstar employee, have surfaced on TikTok.Top of Form
