The film will also see the return of the original cast, including Michael McKean as frontman David St. Hubbins, Christopher Guest as guitarist Nigel Tufnel, and Harry Shearer as bassist Derek Smalls. As Spinal Tap fans will recall, the band has a history of losing drummers to various accidents, including freak gardening mishaps.

Paul McCartney, Elton John, and Garth Brooks have joined the lineup for cameo appearances in the new film. The plot of Spinal Tap 2 revolves around the iconic English hair metal rockers reuniting for a final concert.

Rob Reiner expressed his excitement, stating, "I recently spoke to Marty DiBergi, who said that he was more than happy to take a sabbatical from his position as a visiting professor’s assistant at the Ed Wood School of Cinematic Arts to once again document Spinal Tap to ensure their place in the pantheon of rock and roll."

The sequel to This is Spinal Tap was conceived by Rob Reiner, Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer. Reiner is producing the film alongside Michele Reiner and Matthew George under Reiner's Castle Rock Entertainment banner. The project follows Castle Rock's 2021 reboot, which received a $175 million funding boost. Christopher H. Warner, Derrick Rossi, and Jonathan Fuhrman serve as executive producers on Spinal Tap 2.

Castle Rock Entertainment, originally founded in 1987, has produced over 125 films, including Reiner-directed classics like When Harry Met Sally and A Few Good Men, as well as hits like In the Line of Fire, City Slickers, Miss Congeniality, and The Shawshank Redemption. On the television side, Castle Rock produced one of the most successful comedy series of all time: Seinfeld.Top of Form
