A first-look production image for the upcoming second season of Doctor Who has confirmed Varada Sethu as the latest addition to the team. Millie Gibson is set to return after her first season on Disney+ to join Ncuti Gatwa in their mission to save the world, with Gatwa portraying the Fifteenth Doctor.

BBC Studios unveiled photos from a table read for the upcoming season of Doctor Who, showcasing Sethu as the second companion to embark on thrilling adventures through space and time. The images also feature Gatwa and Gibson, with Gibson reprising her role as Ruby Sunday. Sethu, known for her portrayal of Cinta in Andor on Disney+, boasts an impressive resume that includes appearances in Jurassic World Dominion, Annika, and Strike Back.
"I feel incredibly fortunate, like the luckiest person in the world. Being part of the Whoniverse is such an honor, and I'm immensely grateful to the entire Doctor Who family for embracing me so warmly and making me feel at home. I couldn't have asked for a better team than Ncuti and Millie to share this adventure with. It's been an absolute blast," Sethu expressed in a statement.
With Ncuti portraying the Fifteenth Doctor, the series will feature two companions in its second season on Disney+. The 15th season, scheduled to premiere in May 2025 on the BBC, is spearheaded by series showrunner, executive producer, and writer Russell T Davies. "Currently, in the studio, filming for 2025, we have Ncuti, Millie, and Varada fighting side by side - we need all three because the stakes have never been higher," Davies stated.
The inaugural season of Doctor Who on Disney+ will premiere in the U.S. on May 10. In the U.K., the series will be available for streaming on BBC iPlayer starting May 11, followed by its broadcast on BBC One the following day. This beloved sci-fi show, set in the iconic TARDIS, is produced by Bad Wolf, in association with BBC Studios for Disney Branded Television and BBC.
