The game, hosted by the Chargers at SoFi Stadium on Saturday, featured a kiss cam segment in the second quarter that took viewers on an emotional ride. The final couple to appear on the screen included a man wearing a Rams jersey of wide receiver Puka Nacua.

He gestured for the camera to hold on before dropping to one knee with a ring box in hand. The stadium announcer informed the crowd it was a marriage proposal, prompting loud cheers from the audience.

However, the fan's girlfriend seemed unprepared for a lifetime commitment, seemingly telling him not to propose, which sparked audible gasps of surprise from the crowd. Adding to the drama, another guest accidentally bumped into the rejected fan, spilling nachos and a drink all over his jersey, triggering yet another wave of shocked reactions.

Footage of the incident quickly went viral on social media, with one user commenting, "An all-time disastrous scene at the Chargers game tonight." Many online commenters speculated that the segment appeared staged.

Attendees can rest easy knowing that the fan didn’t actually suffer through a failed proposal attempt. A source familiar with the situation informed Morfeli Reporter that the entire scene was staged.

The “couple” was actually portrayed by two game presentation assistants who help out on game day. They aren’t actors and have regular full-time jobs elsewhere.

A member of the venue’s security team told Morfeli that the stunt caught her off guard, as she hadn’t been informed to expect it.

In the game, the Rams defeated the Chargers 13-9, with Rams third-string quarterback Stetson Bennett facing off against Chargers backup quarterback Easton Stick. The NFL’s 2024 season begins on September 5.
