Johnny Depp Set to Receive Prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at Rome Film Festival – A Legendary Moment!

Johnny Depp is heading back to Italy. After his last performance with his band, Hollywood Vampires (which includes Alice Cooper and Joe Perry from Aerosmith) at the 2018 Lucca Summer Festival, the actor, musician, and filmmaker will be honored with a lifetime achievement award at the 2024 Rome Film Fest, scheduled from October 16 to 27.

Depp will also premiere his newest directorial effort at the festival: Modi – Three Days on the Wing of Madness, which delves into the chaotic life of artist Amedeo Modigliani in 1916 Paris.

The film, featuring Riccardo Scamarcio, Al Pacino, and Antonia Desplat, will be showcased in Rome after its world premiere at the San Sebastián Film Festival.

This recognition in Rome follows Depp's efforts to move past his legal disputes with ex-wife Amber Heard. While his Hollywood career has not fully bounced back from the negative media attention during their divorce, he continues to enjoy international popularity and remains a favorite in the European film community.

In 2023, he opened the Cannes Film Festival with Jeanne du Barry, directed by French filmmaker Maïwenn.

Other notable figures attending the 19th Rome Fest include Viggo Mortensen and Francis Ford Coppola, who will both be receiving special accolades. Mortensen will present his western The Dead Don’t Hurt, starring Vicky Krieps, marking his second directorial project after the 2020 drama Falling, which starred Lance Henriksen.

Coppola will showcase Megalopolis, his long-awaited epic centered on an ambitious architect (Adam Driver) determined to rebuild the fictional city of New Rome after a catastrophic event.
