Final ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Trailer Unveils Female Powerhouses Lady Deadpool and X-23

The third and final trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine has dropped, featuring the ladies of the franchise, Lady Deadpool and X-23, played by Dafne Keen, who was last seen in the hit movie Logan, considered the swan song for Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine.

Jackman returns as another iteration of the famed X-Men antihero, as he has shared with the press, a common occurrence in comic book movie universes. Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as the titular wisecracking vigilante who breaks the fourth wall with ease.

The final trailer, released just ahead of Deadpool & Wolverine hitting theaters next week, spotlights the dramatic interactions between Wolverine and Deadpool, two of Marvel’s biggest misanthropes, making them a natural pairing.

“I know I turn everything into a joke. But I care. And I wanted to use that for something important,” says Reynolds as Deadpool in a rare serious moment in the voiceover. This installment is expected to feature multiple versions of the feisty main character, including Cowboy Deadpool and Lady Deadpool, the latter making her full top-to-bottom debut in this trailer.

However, Lady Deadpool's face remains masked, keeping the identity of the actress a mystery. Taylor Swift, a close friend of Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, tops the rumor list. Either casting would undoubtedly thrill audiences.

Later in the drama and action-packed trailer, Wolverine is seen sitting in the woods, saying, “Whoever you think I am, you’ve got the wrong guy.” A reverse shot reveals he’s speaking with Keen’s X-23.

Director Shawn Levy recently told Collider that Deadpool & Wolverine captures Deadpool’s tone but is not a sequel to Deadpool 2.

“And at the end of the day, as I think we’ve said, it’s very much a Deadpool movie, but this is not Deadpool 3,” he said. “This is Deadpool & Wolverine, and it is singular because of that.”

Deadpool & Wolverine opens on July 26.
