Kanye 'Ye' West Finally Sells His Stripped-Down Malibu Mansion!

Kanye “Ye” West has found a buyer for his Malibu beachfront house, which he had significantly altered and then abandoned. The property, listed by Jason Oppenheim of the Oppenheim Group, is now in escrow, according to Morfeli Reporter.

West initially listed the home in December 2023 in an off-market deal, starting with an asking price of $53 million. After reducing the price to $39 million in April 2024, the sale is now progressing.

After purchasing the Malibu beachfront home designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Tadao Ando for $57.3 million in late 2021, Kanye “Ye” West stripped the property of its interiors.

According to Jason Oppenheim of the Oppenheim Group, who listed the home, the new owner would need to invest several million dollars to redo the interior finishes.

Despite this, the concrete exterior remains intact, preserving the architectural integrity of Ando's design. Oppenheim mentioned that the house, originally built about 10 years ago, could be updated to meet 2024 standards.

The home has also been entangled in legal issues, as West was sued by contractor Tony Saxon, who claimed the rapper owed him over $1 million for work on the renovation.

Kanye West denied the claims made in the lawsuit filed by contractor Tony Saxon, according to the Wall Street Journal, which initially reported the house being listed for sale. In January, Ron Zambrano, a partner at West Coast Employment Lawyers, filed a mechanics lien on the Malibu property on behalf of Saxon.

Zambrano stated that the lien was filed to ensure West pays the more than $1 million allegedly owed to Saxon before the sale proceeds.

The four-bedroom beachfront house, located on Malibu Road, offers Pacific Ocean views from every room. It spans approximately 4,000 square feet, with an additional 1,500 square feet of exterior decks, providing ample outdoor space.
