Rachel Zegler Takes on Sinister Machines in the Thrilling Trailer for A24’s Horror-Comedy ‘Y2K’!

Rachel Zegler stars in Y2K, a disaster-comedy feature from A24, directed by Saturday Night Live standout Kyle Mooney. The film, set for a December 6 release, follows two high school juniors who find themselves in a chaotic situation after crashing a New Year's Eve party on the final night of 1999.

The film's premise revolves around the Y2K scare, with electronic devices from the late '90s turning deadly. The ensemble cast includes Jaeden Martell, Julian Dennison, The Kid Laroi, Fred Durst, Mason Gooding, Alicia Silverstone, and Mooney himself.

The trailer teases a wild mix of nostalgia and dark humor, with one scene featuring a Tamagotchi going rogue and causing mayhem.

In Y2K, Jaeden Martell's character finds a moment of connection amidst the chaos, telling Rachel Zegler's character, "This has been the shittiest night of my life. But it’s cool that we got to hang out for once." Directed by Kyle Mooney, who co-wrote the script with Evan Winter, the disaster-comedy features a nostalgic yet bizarre take on the Y2K phenomenon.

Produced by Winter, Matt Dines, Alison Goodwin, Jonah Hill, Christopher Storer, and Cooper Wehde, Y2K premiered at South by Southwest in March.

The film received praise for its strong performances, particularly from Julian Dennison, though critic Lovia Gyarkye of Morfeli Reporter noted it lacked a cohesive story despite the sharp twists.

Rachel Zegler, who most recently appeared in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, continues to expand her career with upcoming projects including Netflix's animated film Spellbound and the lead role in Disney's live-action Snow White.
