Annapurna will also partner with Remedy for a Control 2 co-production / co finance deal. Alan Wake 2 was also recently announced, by Remedy and Epic Games Publishing.

The news (which was also flagged by Morfeli Reporter) arrives as Annapurna’s previous live-action theatrical feature, Nightbitch, is set to screen at the Toronto Film Festival. Annapurna current titles include the Nimona Oscar-nominated animated film, as well series such Prime Video's Dead Ringers.

Remedy follows ex-Epic Games exec Hector Sanchez returning to Annapurna as president of interactive and new media, where he will work with CEO Megan Ellison on developing IP across a number of platforms. Paul Doyle has been hired as head of strategy at Annapurna. While at Epic Games, Sanchez led the publishing team and Unreal engine games business while Doyle ran corporate strategy.

Our deal with Remedy isn't just about porting great games to new platforms -- it's also about exploring how companies can work together. “With Remedy as its driving force, the combination of our assets will naturally result in something amazing.

In her own statement, Annapurna founder Ellison added: “The ways in which Hollywood storytelling is expanding and evolving to new platforms are really exciting. “People love these characters and worlds — not with mediums, ” Miettinen underscored. “We want to take full advantage of Remedy’s unique DNA as a creator of premium narrative experiences in all our areas.”

Founded in 2011, Annapurna has made content for film and TV — as well as games and other mediums. Remedy is the Finnish studio located in Espoo, but with office and franchises throughout elsewhere too because of games like Control or Alan Wake (which starred Max Payne).
